Mountain View Homeschooling
MVHS offers weekly academic enrichment classes, field trips, and hosts annual HS FIELD DAY in NE GA.
Just a few spaces remain for Fall NaturePLAY!
NaturePLAY is an exclusively outdoors preschool nature course with Alison Hux at Foxfire Woods and Farm, in Nicholson. This child-led exploration of our natural world incorporates science, art, reading, and more. Based on Reggio and Charlotte Mason styled curriculums, this class is designed for 3-6 year old children (big and little siblings welcomed) and a participating adult. Every month we'll gather in weather-appropriate play clothes, Rain, Snow, or Shine!![]()

Kids donβt need classrooms full of same-aged peers, competing to be the smartest or most popular.![]()
They need family and community.![]()
A mix of kids of all ages.
Trusted adults to guide them, not control them.
A space where learning happens through life, relationships, and play, not rigid desks and grade levels.![]()
Children aren't meant to be isolated in age-segregated boxes, taught to see those one year older as "better" and those one year younger as "less."![]()
Theyβre meant to grow up surrounded by family, not just by blood, but by connection.
To learn from those whoβve been there.
To play, explore, and live in real community.![]()
We can do this differently.![]()
Smaller, family-centered learning groups.
Involved parents and community mentors.
More freedom. Less control.
More cooperation. Less competition.![]()
Check out the Sudbury model or democratic schools.
Look into homeschool co-ops and unschooling communities.
Itβs already happening, and it works.![]()
Ironically, one of the biggest criticisms of homeschooling is βsocialization.β
But the truth is: real socialization happens in family and real life.![]()
Our kids donβt need more control.
They need connection.![]()
Letβs build that for them.
Are you cleaning out this Fall? ![]()
Mountain View Homeschooling is organizing a lending library! We're accepting donations to lending to members or to sell with proceeds benefiting the lending library.
We've had a great few weeks back to co-op at Mountain View Homeschooling! Between play, parties, and classes we're enjoying the fellowship of community, learning, and growing. ![]()
(Really growing- Can you believe how old the Jr High looks?! Next to the newest cohort, Kindergarten, they're giants!)
β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβHomeschoolers are weird.β![]()
To those of you who dropped to one income,
put your career goals on the back burner and financial dreams on the altar,
stretched a dollar until it ripped and pinched pennies until they bled,
spent nights researching and days comparing curriculum,
bucked family and societal expectations,
lost friends,
built a community from scratch,
developed a shrewd sense of resourcefulness,
moved heaven and earth to meet your childβs educational needs,
swapped new cars for old ones,
learn to cut hair and repair things everyone else would just buy,
refused to compromise your convictions,
learned and relearned alongside your child,
became the expert needed for the journey,
took a very different path than everyone else you know,
advocated for your child in all areas and all ways, despite what anyone else thoughtβ-![]()
Stay weird.

I highly recommend this practice! Vision Therapy was game changing for my homeschooler (and my own eyesight improved from helping with homework)! I recommend VT with Pediatric Vision Development Center to my tutoring clients all the time- it's a time, driving, and financial investment that's well worth it. ![]()

The Hughes family could use some extra support right now. Their 9-year-old son, Dash, was recently diagnosed with childhood leukemia and is currently in the ICU.
Angela (mom) works full time, homeschools both boys (Thomas is almost 12), and teaches at our homeschool co-op. Michael (dad) is still recovering from major health issues over the past year.
Dash is smart, funny, and loves tacos and dinosaurs. He also has Down syndrome and has faced past medical challenges, including heart surgery.![]()
Right now, this family could use practical help. A Meal Train has been set up to take one thing off their plate. Because the family is currently split between home and the hospital, home-cooked meals arenβt practical right now. Gift cards for food delivery, groceries, or restaurants near Children's Hospital of Atlanta can make a real difference. If youβre able to give a gift card, send delivery, or even just share the link β it all makes a difference. #fightlikedash![]()
